North Korean IT workers are using real-time deepfake technology during remote job interviews to create convincing synthetic identities, bypass verification, and infiltrate companies for financial gain and espionage. They use GANs to create face images, and facial tracking software maps expressions in real-time, which are presented as a webcam input. Palo Alto Networks' Unit 42 identified this trend after a Polish AI company encountered two deepfake candidates.
