What happened

Xing, an e-commerce livestreamer, used an AI tool to generate a digital avatar of Cheng Li-wun and created promotional scripts. He then conducted livestream sales using the likeness of the politician without authorization. Authorities stated that Xing's actions constituted an illegal offense involving the unauthorized impersonation of another individual for fraudulent purposes, violating the Public Security Administrative Penalty Law. Xing was placed under administrative detention. The cyber police bureau stressed the importance of using AI responsibly and within legal and ethical boundaries.
