Cara Hunter deepfake (Dec 2025)

Cara Hunter, a Stormont politician, was the victim of a deepfake pornographic video circulated on WhatsApp in April 2022. She received abusive messages from strangers who viewed the video. The police were unable to investigate due to technological limitations. Hunter identified the platform where the video was released as encrypted. She later became a campaigner against deepfake abuse.
