An anonymous Reddit user recently reported being targeted by a group of individuals who created and circulated non-consensual, AI-generated explicit imagery using the victim's real photographs. The victim, who resides in the UK, described the experience as a form of digital abuse intended to shame and silence them through the threat of continued distribution.

What happened

The perpetrators utilized the victim's own photographs to generate synthetic content, including explicit images depicting sexual assault and degrading scenarios. These images were distributed online, effectively forcing the victim off the platform where they were first shared. The attackers have explicitly threatened to continue spamming this content if the user attempts to return to the platform, using the threat of sexual humiliation as a tool to control the victim’s online presence.

The victim has taken several steps to address the situation, including creating a timeline of events, saving screenshots as evidence, reporting the matter to local police, and seeking assistance from an intimate-image-abuse helpline. The investigation is complicated by the international nature of the incident, with suspected perpetrators potentially located in Sweden, Canada, and the UK. The victim has sought advice on cross-border reporting and protecting their identity from further harassment, while expressing the profound psychological impact of the violation and the fear that acquaintances might perceive the deepfakes as authentic.
