- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
In July 2026, a disturbing video began circulating on social media platforms including X and Facebook, purportedly showing CCTV footage from the Delhi All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) mortuary. The clip depicted bodies under white sheets suddenly sitting up and moving stretchers, leading to widespread speculation about supernatural events. However, investigations confirmed the footage is an AI-generated fabrication rather than an authentic recording.
What happened
The viral content utilized several visual cues to mimic authentic CCTV footage, including a label reading "CAM 2 MORGUE ROOM." Despite this, the video lacked a standard timestamp overlay, raising immediate concerns about its legitimacy. DFRAC and AI expert Kumar Aniket analyzed the footage, identifying several technical discrepancies characteristic of synthetic media.
Key indicators of manipulation included unnatural body movements, inconsistencies in the physics of the fabric covering the bodies, and subtle distortions along object boundaries. Furthermore, the video was subjected to forensic analysis using detection tools such as Deepfake-O-Meter and detectvideo.ai. The AVSRDD (2025) analysis on Deepfake-O-Meter indicated a 99.9% probability that the content was AI-generated, while detectvideo.ai identified significant anomalies in motion, texture, and source signals. No credible news outlets reported such an event, confirming that the claims linking the incident to the Delhi AIIMS mortuary were entirely misleading.
