On July 23, 2026, it was revealed that Queensland Police are investigating the discovery of AI-generated explicit material that falsely depicted members of the A.B. Paterson College community. The content was identified within a digital account belonging to a former secondary teacher at the private school.
What happened
The incident came to light following an internal investigation at A.B. Paterson College, a co-educational school located in Arundel. Principal Joanne Sheehy confirmed that the AI-generated material was discovered inside a teacher's school digital account, which led to the educator's immediate dismissal in October 2025 following a serious misconduct finding.
Upon discovery, the school secured and quarantined the material, limiting access to the minimum necessary for legal and police purposes. The institution handed over all evidence to the Queensland Police and notified relevant regulatory bodies, including the Queensland College of Teachers and the Office of the eSafety Commissioner. According to the school's communication to parents, there is currently no evidence that the explicit AI-generated content was shared with others. The police investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are in the process of contacting affected members of the school community.
