A prominent German voice actor deepfake (Nov 2025)

A German YouTuber used AI to clone the voice of a professional voice actor for commercial videos without permission. The court ruled that this violated the voice actor's personality rights and ordered the YouTuber to pay damages. The AI-generated voice was used to drive traffic to the defendant's online merchandise shop, and the court found that this commercial purpose outweighed any claims to satire or freedom of expression protections. Viewers were confused and believed the voice actor had consented to appear in the videos.
