On August 26, 2026, the Tourist Police Bureau arrested a 29-year-old government driver named Yuenyong for impersonating a police officer. The suspect allegedly used photo-editing software and AI technology to create digital images of himself performing police duties, including making arrests and posing with law enforcement teams.
What happened
The investigation began after an official at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex in Bangkok filed a complaint regarding a driver who was dressing as an investigative officer and claiming to hold the rank of police lance corporal. Authorities monitored the suspect’s social media accounts, where they discovered the AI-altered imagery used to bolster his false persona. Upon his arrest at the government complex, police found drug-related equipment in his vehicle and discovered he was already wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Maha Sarakham Provincial Court for entering false information into a computer system.
Beyond the digital impersonation, Yuenyong confessed to fabricating a police identification card. He admitted to investigators that he utilized the AI-edited photographs and the fake credentials to impress women he met through social media. His criminal history includes prior charges for drug possession, joint fraud, and the transport of undocumented migrant workers. Following his confession, the suspect was transferred to the Maha Sarakham Provincial Court to face legal proceedings.
