On October 13, 2026, a TikTok video posted by the account @fdjhgi38 falsely claimed to show a fatal accident at the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park. The video featured an image of a person in midair, purportedly ejected from the Goliath roller coaster, to capitalize on news of a real-world fatality that occurred at the park on October 12, 2026.
What happened
The viral claim was debunked as a fabrication using AI-generated content. A reverse image search traced the source of the image to a Reddit post published on August 7, 2025, in the r/aivideo community. The original post was part of a reel depicting fabricated theme park collapses, created using generative AI tools. The r/aivideo community explicitly includes a disclaimer stating that its content is computer-generated and not real.
Further analysis by the Hive Moderation AI-Generated Content Detection tool confirmed the image was 97.4% likely to be AI-generated. Visual inconsistencies in the image, such as the figure appearing to have four legs while lacking a head or arms, also served as indicators of its synthetic origin. The TikTok video attempted to link this pre-existing AI footage to the tragic, unrelated death of Jihad Ibn Kariem, who was ejected from the actual Goliath roller coaster the day prior. By repurposing year-old AI-generated media, the post created a misleading narrative surrounding a sensitive and ongoing investigation into the park's safety protocols.
