The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an official advisory to NEET-UG 2026 candidates and their parents, warning against the submission of fraudulent or AI-generated OMR sheets. This directive follows the discovery of fabricated documents during the agency's verification process regarding student score complaints.

What happened

Following the announcement of NEET 2026 results on July 16, the NTA began reviewing numerous complaints from candidates regarding discrepancies between their expected and declared scores. During the scrutiny of these grievances, the agency identified that several OMR sheets submitted as evidence were not authentic, but were instead fake or generated using artificial intelligence.

In response, the NTA emphasized that it is closely monitoring all incoming complaints. The agency explicitly warned students and parents that submitting non-original or AI-created OMR sheets is a serious offense that may invite legal action against the complainant. The NTA has urged all applicants to submit only original documentation for verification purposes.

This incident occurs against a backdrop of ongoing scrutiny regarding the NEET-UG examination process. The original May 3 exam was cancelled on May 12 following allegations of a paper leak, leading to a CBI investigation and a re-conducted exam on June 21. In light of these irregularities and the recent discovery of AI-generated OMRs, the Centre has announced a transition for future exams from the traditional pen-and-paper format to a computer-based test (CBT) model.
