Ferrari executive deepfake (Jan 2025)

In July 2024, a Ferrari executive received WhatsApp messages seemingly from CEO Benedetto Vigna, regarding a significant acquisition and urging the executive to sign an NDA. The messages included a profile picture of Vigna and mimicked his accent. Inconsistencies in tone during a follow-up call aroused suspicion, and a question only Vigna would know exposed the scammer. This prevented potential financial loss and reputational damage.
