In early September 2026, President Donald J. Trump utilized his personal social media account and official White House channels to disseminate a high volume of AI-generated imagery and synthesized video content. These posts, coordinated alongside his aide Natalie Harp, served as a tool for public messaging and political commentary.
What happened
The content featured a wide range of AI-synthesized visuals, including depictions of the President alongside historical figures like George Washington and cinematic characters such as the Green Lantern. Other AI-generated media included images of the President in a spaceship against a backdrop of nuclear explosions, as well as stylized portrayals of himself as a dark lord commanding an army.
Beyond personal branding, the AI imagery was used to illustrate geopolitical and domestic claims. This included altered maps renaming landmarks and territories, such as "Lake America" and "New America," and a depiction of a U.S. military strike on Iran’s Kharg Island. Additional AI-generated content targeted political rivals, featuring fabricated images of former President Joe Biden wearing a Trump 2024 hat, actor Robert DeNiro supporting the President, and a depiction of a ship labeled "DUMOCRATIC PARTY" sinking. The President also used AI-generated visuals to address financial controversies, posting images of himself trading stocks at an Oval Office desk to defend his economic record. These efforts were characterized as a strategy to maintain public attention amidst reports of economic challenges and a declining approval rating.
